Using the Material node to apply shaders to geometry

- Now that we've looked at how to create an instance of a shader in Houdini, I'm going to show you how to assign that shader to geometry. And there's two main places where we can do that. The really basic, and quite frankly, not often used place is right actually up here at the scene level. And I'm going to show you this first, and then we'll look at the material node, which is sort of the more specific way that we add a shader to geometry. And that's more what you're gonna actually use in production. But it's good to know that you can do it here as well to sort of override an entire object. So I'm going to hit the "p" key. And I'm going to middle-mouse click so we can see our node again over here. And I'm going to go under the Material tab. And you can see that this is quite simple. It has one field for material.
