- Malicious software or malware from online sources presents a clear and present danger to every modern computer user. Unsavory programmers want your money, your personal information, and your computing power. This is bad news all the way around. Previous episodes have covered online threats such as spam and email phishing. This episode explores a few particularly virulent forms of malware, symptoms of a malware infestation, and actions for dealing with the ever-present threat. Spyware gathers information about system usage, as the name would suggest. Spyware generally installs as part of some otherwise benign program or media.
