- [Instructor] There's no time to waste when you want to recover a deleted file. In order I recommend that you try these steps. Number one, press ctrl+z. If you just deleted a file, the undo command gets it right back. So I'll delete this file here and press ctrl+z on the keyboard and it's recovered. This trick works only when you immediately undo after you've deleted a file. If you tarry, undo may undo another file operation, a copy or a rename for example. Number two, check the recycle bin. Open the recycle bin icon on the desktop. Ensure that the files are sorted by date deleted and if you don't see this view click the view tab and ensure that details are chosen. You can click the date deleted header to sort the column by first or last deleted. Now you can search through the freshly deleted files to find the one you want.
