- [Instructor] The California Attorney General plays a very important part in CCPA, from oversight to interpretation to enforcement. The Attorney General has multiple responsibilities for CCPA. The Attorney General is the state's top lawyer and law enforcement official, protecting and serving the people and interests of California. They're responsible for ensuring the laws of the state are uniformly and adequately enforced. At the time of this recording, the Attorney General is Xavier Becerra. Once passed, the act called for the Attorney General to draft and adopt regulations to implement the CCPA. In doing so, these regulations provide guidance to businesses, and thereby the ability to bring enforcement of those guidelines. One thing to note, the Attorney General states that the office will protect consumers, but not give free legal advice to companies, so don't go asking the Attorney General exactly what you should…
