- So to be a data scientist and work on a team, I think one of the most important skills you have to have is communication. And it's not only communication to be able to talk to other people about what they're doing and what you need help with, it's also being able to communicate the data to other people. So one obstacle you're going to have a lot is how do I communicate this data and these statistical you know, models or things that I'm creating, to a CEO who doesn't care about statistics, they care about the bottom line and you really have to understand what numbers it is that they're looking for and what the most important questions they need answered are and how to get that from a technical process but relay it in a nontechnical way.
