- Some of the toughest parts of being a data scientist is that we come into the field and this is also how people get people into the field. We try to convince them that's all machine learning and deep learning and fancy modeling and all that sort of stuff. And a lot of your day to day is just understanding data. So you have to clean your data. It's not going to be a perfect Kaggle like format. Kaggle is great, don't get me wrong. It's great for learning modeling, but with machine learning, it it's part of the job. It's not the entire job. So a lot of my day is cleaning data and being like, is this data right? Is this correct? Let me go talk to someone about this or have someone talked to me because if you make a mis--, if you make an assumption with data and it's wrong, that's a big deal.
