Data sovereignty in the cloud
- [Instructor] Digital data is often subject to the laws where that data is physically stored. And in the cloud, we do have control of where data is located. So proper data placement then, including whether the data is replicated across national boundaries, is a crucial aspect of data sovereignty. Let's take a look at how this works using a Microsoft Azure storage account. I've already got a storage account created, so to view that, I'm going to open up my navigator in the left-hand side of the screen and I'm going to go all the way down to Storage accounts and click on that. So I've got one storage account, which I will click on to open its properties. Now, as I scroll down, on the left I see a Geo-replication option, but the problem is that when I click it, over on the right, I'm being shown a map which indicates the primary location of this storage account geographically, in this case, it happens to be in the East…
