- [Instructor] So let's focus on the compute aspect of edge computing and the edge computing architecture. So compute as it's been with traditional systems typically functions around a central processing unit. Within edge computing, you're going to see any number of different devices. And keep in mind that edge-based devices typically reside in areas where they need to be small, and therefore they leverage lower CPUs. They need to generate a minimum amount of heat and use a minimal amount of power. So typically, they're going to be commoditized CPUs that are leveraged in any number of devices. And so edge devices are typically cheaper, and they leverage CPUs that you can find pretty much anywhere. CPUs have a cache, the ability to in essence store information temporarily to increase performance of the CPU. They communicate with some sort of an operating system, such as Linux or Windows NT, and they have some sort of an…
