- [Instructor] eDiscovery or electronic discovery is the discovery collection. And also the preservation in adherence with the chain of custody. Of potential evidence that might be used in a court of law. So there are standards then that need to be met in order to ensure that that digital evidence is admissible in a court of law. So eDiscovery's the collection of electronic data that might be used as evidence and that type of data could include many different things. It could be email messages, text messages, documents, those stored in the cloud, or on premises, log files of a device or of an operating system or an application, social media posts. That type of thing. So the important thing about the gathering of this digital evidence is that it be done properly. So that there was a warrant, it was legally obtained.
