- [Instructor] It's obvious your laptop's keyboard lacks the variety of a desktop computer's keyboard. To make up for this difference a laptop keyboard often features the Fn key. The Fn key is used to access keys with dual functions. Often this key is color-coded with the special functions on other key caps such as commands to adjust the volume, set the screen brightness, activate Wi-Fi, and other hardware features. Conversely, this special-purpose key may be active by default. In which case, the Fn key accesses the key's regular function. For example, the F2 key might also be the increase brightness control unless you press Fn + F2 to access the F2 key itself. So check your laptop's keyboard for an Fn lock option if it's available.
