- [Narrator] Once you've prepared and have left for a road trip with your laptop, long or short, here are some tips for making the experience better. Always have your charger with you, and for a reason when you plant yourself in a specific location for any length of time look for a wall socket. If you can't find one that's okay, laptops have batteries for a reason. But if you can connect do so, make the power outlet part of your decision tree when looking for a place to do your mobile computing. Try to pick a place to work away from windows and bright lights. It's best to face outward, toward the window, street, or other area to keep your back against a wall or someplace dark, otherwise the light reflected off the laptop screen can be annoying and lead to eye strain. Further, increasing the screen brightness to compensate helps drain the battery, which is something you should avoid if you can.
