- [Instructor] Security professionals are risk managers. We spend our time identifying risks to our organizations, assessing the severity of those risks, and designing controls to mitigate risks when it's appropriate to do so. We're also responsible for ensuring that our organizations comply with cybersecurity laws and regulations. Together, these disciplines are known as governance, risk and compliance, or GRC, and it's one of the core tasks of our field.
