IKEv2

- [Instructor] IKEv2, or Internet Key Exchange, version 2, is an improvement on the IKE protocol used in IPsec connections. While IKEv2 is used to manage the security association portion of setting up a secure connection, by itself, it's not a VPN protocol. It's often used as part of setting up an IPsec tunnel, and so, it can be thought of as IKEv2 over IPsec. Though connection of this type is usually just called IKEv2. IKEv2 operates over UDP port 500 and UDP port 4500, and it supports 256 bit encryption with various algorithms. Through IPsec, this kind of VPN provides Layer 3 connectivity. IKEv2 connects quickly and can react to changes in the network, like if your mobile device moves from wifi to the cellular data network. This capability can reestablish the connection before you even notice that your network changed.
