Import information from other disks
- [Narrator] Using the FreeNAS console, we can mount some kinds of disks if FreeBSD knows how to read them, and we can work with files on them. But we can't easily share those disks with our users. Instead, to make files from a disk available to our users, we need to import the files or copy the files to one of our data sets. While we can copy files from such a disk manually at the command line, the web interface gives us an easy way to do it as well. When a disk is imported, all the files on it are copied to a place we specify, and when the copying is done, we can remove the disk or wipe it and repurpose it. I'll plug a USB drive with a few random files into my server. It's in FAT32 format, so FreeBSD will be able to read it, and here in the web interface, under Storage, I have an option called Import Disk.
