Installing FreeNAS

- [Instructor] To get started installing FreeNAS, we'll need the installation ISO available from the website. I've downloaded a copy already, and you should take a few moments to do that as well. I'll be using the ISO image to install in my virtual machine. If you're installing FreeNAS natively on a computer, you'll need to burn that ISO to an optical disk. Or use a USB installer creation tool to write it onto an external disk. Before we start installing, it's important to know what your install disk setup will be. For most installations, this will probably be one or two small disks to make up the boot pool. Here I'll start with one disk and create the boot pool on that during installation. We don't need much space, and we want reliability, so consider setting up a mirrored device either from the outside or later on. In a virtual machine, that's not too hard to do.
