- [Instructor] All operating systems also include a command line tool that allows you to learn some information about a system's network interfaces. On Mac and Linux systems, that's the ifconfig command, which is short for interface configure. Let's take a look. I'm in a terminal prompt on a MacBook and I'm just going to type in ifconfig. Now, what I get is a lot of information dumped at me, so I'm going to go ahead and instead specify that I'm only interested in the en0 network interface. There's a lot of other network interfaces on this Mac. Let me clear the screen, and now I'm going to type ifconfig, and instead of just dumping everything, I'm going to ask for the ethernet zero interface. And here are the results for that one interface. Now, there's a lot of jargon here, but some of the important information that I see is the Mac address associated with this computer next to the ether keyword, and that Mac address…
