Making a data connection

- We're here in our Microsoft 365 homepage. And I am very excited, because we're going to begin the process of creating an app using Power Apps. Now to get to Power Apps, we see that we have the big shortcut link here on our portal page. And if you don't see this, don't panic, you can always go up to your app launcher. And we see that our list of apps is there. We don't see Power Apps yet. So we're going to click on all apps. And they're listed alphabetically, and you should be able to find it there. Now, whether you click here, or whether you click here, it's going to take you to the same place. Now, if you don't see Power Apps in either place, that means you don't have access to it. You'll need to talk to somebody in your organization. But we're going to click on the link and it's going to take us to Power Apps. And the app that we're going to create is going to connect to a SharePoint list. Now we need to see if we have a connection to SharePoint yet. So we're going to come over here to the left. This is our navigation pane, and you see we have data. We're on the home panel right now, but we're going to click here on data, and it expands this list. And we're going to come down to connections. Now, when we get to the connections page, we have a list of existing connections. And we scroll down through it, and we don't see one for SharePoint. So what we're going to do is create a new connection to SharePoint. We're going to move here to the upper left, and you'll see the big new connection button. We're going to click there. And we see the very first thing is SharePoint. That is the first option for connection. That's the one we want. So we're going to click there, and it opens up this window. And it asks us, how do we want to connect to your data? Do we want to connect directly using cloud services? And that's the default, and that is what we're going to choose. But we also have an option to connect to the on-premises data gateway. So if you're using SharePoint locally in your organization, the on-premise SharePoint, you can use that. But we are connecting to SharePoint in the cloud. So we're going to simply click on create. And it's going to ask us to sign in. Now we are signed in, we have two different accounts here. And we're going to sign in as Henry Twill. So we simply need to click here. Now, if your account information isn't saved, you might have to physically enter in your email address and your password. But it is saved on this computer for me. And there we go. Let's take a look at our connections now. And we scroll down to the bottom and there it is. There is our connection to SharePoint for Henry Twill@hplus-sport. And it is connected to SharePoint. And that's exactly what we needed to do to start creating our app, was create a connection to SharePoint. So now you know how to create a connection to SharePoint in Power Apps.
