- [Instructor] The next text based curation files we are going to talk about are manuals. Have you ever had someone give you a data set and then be surprised that you asked questions about it? Off course, just having the data means you know a lot you know the names and structure of every table you've been given and within each table, as long as you can open the files, you can see the names and the structures of the fields in the table. You can even analyze the data, look at distributions of continuous variables and look at the value levels and categorical variables. Even though the data themselves tell us a lot let's face it, there is other information we need to know when we are analyzing or even supporting a data set. It's helpful to know how the data gets there, into the dataset, onto the reports wherever the data from the system show up. And it's also helpful to understand what data are deliberately not in the system.…
