- [Instructor] All right, let's talk about maturity models. So what is a maturity model? Well, it's essentially a method for process optimization. It's a method for improving some process, whatever it is, building some software, developing a widget, selling a service, whatever that process is, it's a way for constantly trying to improve it over time. And it tends to be a set of levels or maturity levels that describe the practices that have to be performed to achieve each level of maturity. Now what it's used for is it's a way to sort of periodically measure the improvement of a process. Are we getting better at doing this thing, at, let's just say, building the software, like a software development life cycle, CMM, for example, a capability maturity model?
