- [Instructor] So when we look at a dashboard, we always want to keep in mind what these metrics actually represent, 'cause oftentimes the calculations are not so straightforward that we can tell from the calculation alone what the number represents. For instance, when we look at total number of cases and total number of deaths, it may seem like a easy number to understand. It's the total number of people who are infected and perhaps number of people who have died due to the infection. In reality, when you look at dashboards, because the pandemic is ongoing, there's a difference between probable cases and confirmed cases and probable deaths and confirmed deaths. And we want to keep this in mind when we look at metrics because it will actually change the calculation that we see on the dashboard.
