- [Narrator] Mobile devices present a unique challenge for forensic examiners. They're a treasure trove of evidence because they often contain our entire lives. If you get access to the full contents of a mobile device, you'll often have access to the user's emails, texts, voicemails, files stored in Cloud services and even their GPS location tracking history. It isn't always easy to perform forensic analysis of mobile devices however, because manufacturers of these products use strong encryption to protect the private data that they contain. That's just good security. I have a friend who has spent his entire career in law enforcement and he's often called upon to conduct forensic analysis on mobile devices. He finds that he's only successful in a small portion of cases these days, because most devices are encrypted. However, some people don't activate encryption or they fail to protect their devices with a passcode…
