Moving and duplicating files

- [Instructor] The basic tools of file management are copying, moving, and renaming. To move this file into this folder, I can drag it, and the file is moved. This operation is effectively a cut and paste operation. So I can take the same file here, press Control + X. Nothing is cut yet until you paste. Move back into the other folder. Control + V to paste. There's the file. The file is moved. In Windows, the move operation is the default between folders on the same storage device. Dragging a file icon from one folder to the other moves the file. When dealing with another storage device, such as external storage or a thumb drive, the default operation is to copy. Dragging duplicates the file. The original is still on the source media. An exact copy is created on the destination media. File management is performed in a File Explorer window.
