- [Instructor] In addition to performing your own internal network monitoring and maintenance, you'll want to leverage network support services available to you from your providers and take other proactive steps to protect your infrastructure. Power supplies are one of the most common components that fail on a network device, and they are also not very expensive. Therefore you'll want to choose network device options that offer redundant power supplies. That way, if one power supply fails, the other will immediately pick up operation and prevent the device from going down. When a device does go down, you may be able to fix it yourself or you may require assistance from the vendor. You'll want to enter into a support contract that supplies you with this assistance. Support contracts often differ based upon the response time guaranteed by the vendor. You might be able to save a little money if you choose business…
