- [Narrator] New Year's resolutions, many people make 'em, only a few keep 'em. So this begs the question, are they even worth making? Let's see if statistics can provide some insight. Let's start with the question of how many people actually make New Year's resolutions? Studies vary, but the more reputable ones report that between 35 and 45% of Americans make New Year's resolutions. Some of these studies look backward, asking if people had made resolutions in the past. Others asked if people were likely to make resolutions in the coming year. So you can see the methodology isn't exactly reliable, but it's something. The most common resolutions listed by those reporting that they were likely to make a resolution were in the area of health and fitness, exercising more, losing weight, eating healthier, quitting smoking, quitting or limiting drinking.
