- [Instructor] GNS3 provides a number of devices as standard. Cloud Ethernet hubs and switches and hosts and virtual PCs. This allows a generic network to be set up and simulated. However, for manufacturers specific devices such as firewalls and routers, we need to obtain device images. Initially GNS3 was developed in order to simulate a Cisco based network. As a result, one of the main types of images you'll be interested in is the Cisco Product set. The full set of Cisco software can be accessed from the Cisco website using a Cisco support contract. And this is by far the best place to source images. However, unless you work in an organization, which has an existing Cisco contract, obtaining a license to download software for testing may prove difficult. GNS3 is evolved and now supports other devices such as Juniper routers, a range of Linux based devices and others.
