In Windows, ensure that you have password-protect account. I'll assume that you already use a password-protected account. You can add biometric security, such as a fingerprint reader, if your laptop has such hardware. Windows Hello is a feature that provides multiple secure sign in options. To access these options, press the Windows+I keyboard shortcut to open the Settings app, choose Accounts, Sign-in options, and here are the items you can use to sign in to your laptop, many of which provide a higher level of security.
