Setting up your test environment

- [Narrator] In order to demonstrate some of the learning objectives we're going to cover, you'll need to set up a small network. On your end, you should have a system with eight gigs of RAM so the virtual machines won't have any trouble accessing resources. Let's take a look at where you can find the images and other resources that we'll use throughout the series. Use the document with the links found in the exercise files so that you can follow along. First, sign up for the Cisco Network Academy. It's free, and I'm at the webpage where you would log in and then create your account. Once you create your account, do a search on Packet Tracer so that you can obtain the latest copy of Packet Tracer which we'll use eventually in the series. You might have to take a course on Packet Tracer, but then you'll be good to go. Next, you'll want to get either VMware or VirtualBox. For an evaluation copy of VMware, go to this page. And here is where you can get VirtualBox. We'll also want to get some hosts. On this page, you can get a Windows 10 development environment. It's good for a short period of time, but it will help build your small network. You'll also want to get Kali Linux, so go to kali.org for the latest version of Kali Linux. And this is the ISOs. But here on this page, you can get pre-made virtual images. And I want you to just take a look here. It says these images have a default login and password of kali/kali and may have pre-generated SSH host keys. So that's pretty much what you'll need and then you'll be good to go. Before we begin, I have a very quick five-question pretest to give you a taste of what's to come. So take the pre-test and then let's get started.
