Shared storage for groups
- [Narrator] FreeNAS makes creating a place where users can share data amongst themselves fairly straightforward. Once our users are organized into groups, we can use those groups to allow members to work with the same files without worrying about manually setting up permissions and group bits. Here in the sharing menu, under SMB, I have a share called storage. Right now, if any user were to connect to the server, they'd see the share and it would be read only for them. A share like this has a teosis, but the intent for my storage share here is to let users of a specific group read and write a set of files that they all share. So, we need to allow members to make changes to files, and also keep non-members from using the share. The share area doesn't provide me any place to say which group is able to access it. That setting is back under Storage, on the data set that the share refers to. I'll move over…
