Software-defined networking (SDN)
- One of the industry buzzwords that we hear a lot these days is SDN, and that stands for software defined networking. And in this video, we're going to examine what SDN does for us and some of the pieces and parts that make it work. Consider how we traditionally manage network devices like routers and switches. We connect to a device maybe using a Secure Shell connection and we enter some commands or maybe we use a graphical interface to do the configuration. But however we do it, we traditionally configure one device at a time. However, we might have a need to make a change on many devices all at once, perhaps to push out a new security or new quality of service policy. Using our traditional one-at-a-time administrative approach, that could take a long time. That's where SDN can help us out.
