- [Instructor] Access control is a framework that enables the subject to interact with objects or resources on the network. Triple-A security is authentication, authorization and accounting. This is a model that uses three independent security functions to control access and defend the infrastructure. Let's step through how this works. Authentication confirms the identity of a person or process. Authorization defines what the subject is allowed to do once they're on the network. And accounting monitors what's been done once they're on the network, such as what files were accessed, how long were they there, and any changes that have been made. When we take a look at access control, we can implement it in one of two ways. Decentralized access control gives access control to the users closer to the resource.
