- Data visualizations are graphical representations of data that allow for a quick or meaningful understanding of a dataset with very little time. That involves using color, shape, size, tones to convey what the data is trying to say, and really direct the audience or stakeholder to the output of your analysis in a meaningful way that isn't confusing and doesn't require a lot of jargon to understand. Tableau is a very popular data visualization software. It is not open source. You have to buy a license in order to use it. And there are varying levels of support you can get in terms of publishing your projects or reports online that allows for users to interact with, or view different reporting options. But it's a really great tool to visualize your data, to be able to build out reports that are interactive that can be downloaded, that can be printed. They even have an export into PowerPoint.
