A website certificate is what gives validity to the HTTPS or secure site URL. You can view a site's certificate by clicking on the padlock icon in the web browser's address bar. The website certificate contains lots of information, including who issued the certificate, the type of security used (typically SHA-256), and other domains covered by the certificate.
