- My name is Alfonso Berumen. I am an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University and a current doctoral student at Pepperdine University and an independent consultant. I would say what takes up most of your time is really towards the beginning of the project where you're really just trying to understand, you know, what is the industry that you're working in? What is the business model of the company or organization that you're working for? And then when you get some data, just really understanding the intricacies of the data, the variables, what the different data sets represent. You would think that with every data set that you get, you have a data dictionary, or what's basically a description of what each variable represents, the type of variable that it corresponds to. Is it character? Is it numeric? But the reality is, is that that's not a common occurrence. So you do have to spend a lot of time just understanding…
