- [Instructor] Computers are suppose to end repetitive drudgery. To meet this goal, here are some useful keyboard and mouse shortcuts you probably don't know about. In both Word and Excel, F4 is the repeat key. Whatever you just did, press the F4 key and the action is repeated. So I'll insert a row, and now I press the F4 key and each time I do, a row is inserted. This is the same key as Control + Y. So I can press Control + Y to do the same thing. But for some reason, I remember F4. Now to make a quick sum in a column, I hope you know the Alt + = keyboard shortcut, press Alt + = and you have the sum function calculate a total automatically for you. Alt + =, Enter, there is your sum. Scrolling in a worksheet can be done easily using the middle button on a computer mouse, the scroll wheel.
