- [Instructor] Many security professionals argue that people are the weakest link in security, and I couldn't agree more. By inventorying a company's employees, it allows you to find the strengths, weaknesses, and the people you can interact with. Not all employees are created equal. Some employees have access to financial data, while other employees have access to customer data. According to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission Consumer Sentinel Network report, certain groups of employees, for example, older adults or new hires, are often more susceptible to social engineering attacks. Finding these employees and identifying which of them can be utilized to achieve your objective is critical in the reconnaissance phase of an attack.
