What is a service?
- The foundation for delivering value to your customers begins with understanding their needs. This allows collaboration with them to achieve their goals. Service management builds a framework for your organization that you can use to identify and then deliver the required services, thus value from these services is co-created by the service provider and the service consumers. Organizations need to define services in a manner that customers and users will understand so that the outcomes customers expect are consistently delivered at a cost that the organization can afford. Defining services is similar in purpose to a restaurant menu. To be effective, it must list what can be purchased and how much each line item costs. The same applies for services.
