- Getting into management is obviously something that has been slated as the way to go, right? If you're going to progress, you need to go from individual contributor to management and keep working your way up. I don't believe that myself, I have people on my team that have no interest in becoming leaders or leading teams, but on an individual or one-to-one basis, they teach these very specific skill sets to other team members, and I think that's just as important as people management. Being a leader has nothing to do with how many people you're leading or in what sense, developing a very specific skill and building that out is a huge aspect of leadership.
