- [Instructor] Uber, you may know how it works. A rideshare company. Riders need a ride, they log onto an app, the app then finds Uber drivers in the area. If the rider enters a destination an offer is made based on mileage and time of day among other factors. So who wants to give this person a ride to the airport? Multiple drivers have the ability to accept or decline this opportunity. Every driver gets the same offer. First to accept the job gets it. Every driver contacted had the same opportunity. Is it possible a male driver makes more money than a female driver in this system? Yes, and in fact that is the case. A recent study from Stanford and the University of Chicago showed that men made 7% more than women. Is this a reliable study? It seems that it is. Uber provided a massive amount of data. 1.8 million drivers, 740 million rides over a two year period. A random sample with a massive sample size.
