The roles in data science
- So any data science organization needs a couple of different specialized roles to really function well. And from my perspective it actually starts with the data engineering capacity. This is the team that's focused on extracting data, transforming it, getting it pipelined for analytical activity. And this is often an overlooked area of the business, but it's incredibly crucial for being able to do real data science. Additionally, for within data science you have a lot of different roles that a data scientist can take. This can look more like a generalist role where a data scientist has skills across the spectrum and he is sort of asked to be able to solve any problem and solve it for themselves.
