- The Zachman model has six layers and the bottom layer the operations layer is where the operational activities related to the architecture exist. But every element of the architecture matrix is likely to change throughout the life of the architecture. Business requirements change with adjustments to the market, new business initiatives, mergers, acquisitions and so on. Threats and risks change, business locations change, systems change and software applications change. So if everything changes then we need to architect a management process in each element of the matrix. In SABSA, the operational layer has evolved into a second matrix, the service management matrix.
