- The Zachman model has six layers and the bottom layer the operations layer is where the operational activities related to the architecture exist. But every element of the architecture matrix is likely to change throughout the life of the architecture. Business requirements change with adjustments to the market, new business initiatives, mergers, acquisitions and so on. Threats and risks change, business locations change, systems change and software applications change.
