Browse fonts using Character Options

- [Instructor] With your type tool selected, double click on the text. Then, head to your Properties panel and scroll down to the Character settings. From here, you can select a font family of your choice by clicking on the down pointing arrow and browsing the fonts available on your machine. If you wish to explore and activate more fonts, you can do so directly from Illustrator by selecting the Find More tab. Here you can filter, browse, and activate fonts just in a few clicks. Use your filters to narrow down on your research by clicking on the little Filters icon. When you're done with your research, don't forget to go back and clear your filters by clicking on Clear All, so you can display all the fonts available again. I'm going to select a character called Integral CF, which is nice and bold, a perfect match for this illustration. I'm going to set its size to 61 points. I will then head up to the Appearance options to pick a color fill. I will choose black. Now, select the main selection tool from the toolbar and select the type of bounding box to position it inside your artboard. I will also suggest at this point to create a copy of your text. You can do so by holding Alt on Windows, Option on a Mac, and dragging it outside the artboard. Then, head back to the text sitting on the artboard, click once to select it, and use the shortcut Shift + Control + O on Windows, which is Shift + Command + O on a Mac, to transform your live text into a shape. This will help you retain the font appearance in case the artwork is shared with others who do not have access to the same font family. While the copy of the live text that we have placed outside the artboard will be there in case we need to make any edits. And we're almost done. Let's move to the next step.
