Copying and repurpose path segments

- [Instructor] In this movie, I'll show you how to copy a few select segments that you've drawn in advance and then repurpose them by fusing them to another path outline. Specifically, I'll press the "V" key to switch to my black arrow tool, and click on the path that represents this right-hand shoulder. Now, the thing is we want every bit of this path outline except for the segment that runs up the neck. So you might assume you would press the "a" key to switch to the white arrow tool and then shift click on the anchor point associated with that neck path in order to turn it off. But in fact, what you need to do is not only shift click on that top point to de-select it, but you need to shift click on the next point down as well. And that's because anytime you have anchor points selected, you also select their neighboring segments. So for example, this guy right here which is selected, ends up grabbing this segment…
