- [Instructor] To build precise logo marks in Illustrator requires using a combination of tools and functionality. In this movie we'll showcase freeform vector building using the Pen tool along with shape building methods to create our logo design directions. So let's get started. So on this specific direction, this is where it started, this was my thumbnail sketch. Once again, I like to use a pen when I do thumbnailing because I don't want to get bogged down in the details. I just want to capture the essence of an idea and draw it quickly and not erase. And using a pen prevents me from overthinking it. So this was where this specific design direction started, with the thumbnail, and then working through the drawing process, I create the final refined sketch.
