Creating a clipping mask

- [Narrator] All right, now we're going to talk about clipping masks. And the idea is this, a clipping mask allows you to place one or more objects inside the confines of a path outline. And so, notice this surfboards here, the stripes fall entirely inside the purple surfboard, whereas they extend outside the red and green boards. And that's because if I were to marquee, the red shapes, you could see up here at the top of the properties panel that they're just plain old path outlines. Whereas if I were to click on the outline for the purple board, you can see at the top of the properties panel that we have what illustrator calls, a clipping group, which includes an outside clipping mask and the clipped objects within. And so, let me show you a couple of ways to create a clipping mask.
