- [Instructor] You may be pleased to know that in addition to the pattern swatches that you can find built in to Illustrator, you can actually make your own as well from your artwork, and that's what we're going to do here with this piece of art here. So, you'll see it's just some strokes and different fills in there and they're open at the ends with these rounded terminals so they all join up nicely. To create a pattern, you simply select the artwork that you intend to base the pattern upon and then go to the objects menu, come all the way down to pattern, and then choose make. And you get taken into this special workspace here that is all focused on patterns. You get an informational here which tells you that a new pattern has been added to the swatches panel. There it is just there. Any changes made while in this mode will be applied to the swatch when you leave. That's provided you click done up at the top here. But…
