Crop and trim raster images

- [Instructor] Astute Graphics Rasterino gives you more control over embedded raster images in your Illustrator documents. With it, you can crop images, trim them, size them to a desired resolution, and more. In our file here, we have a linked image of some journals, and I don't need these two over here on the right, so I'd like to crop them out. I'll open the Rasterino panel by choosing window, Rasterino, Rasterino panel. And the first thing I need to do is embed this image. So I'll select it, and click embed over here in properties. Now at this point, I can click the button on the right side of the panel to open the crop image dialogue box. And I can use the controls here to crop the image precisely. So for example, I could set the anchor point over to the left side, and set the width to 2,000 pixels, and the height to 2,400, and click OK to crop the image. Or if I undo, I could instead use the crop image tool, which you can find with the eraser tool. Now I can simply drag a side or corner to crop the image, and I can see the parts that will be cropped out. I also have this annotation where I can see the exact pixel dimensions as I drag. And I can either click the check mark to accept a crop, the X to reject it, or I can press return or enter to apply the crop. You can control the visibility of the annotation by going to the Rasterino panel menu and choosing crop image tool options, and either checking or un-checking show annotation. You can also use the Rasterino panel to trim images. To remove most of the white area around the journal, I'll click the trim image button. And notice you can also use this to remove transparent pixels when your image file has them. In this case I want to trim the top left pixel color, and I want to trim it away on all sides. With preview checked, I can see what the result will be, and I'll click OK. And finally, you can use Rasterino to size images to a specific resolution. First, choose an anchor point, I'll go with the center, and then choose a resolution from the menu, or enter in your desired resolution. And press return or enter to apply that. So in this movie, we saw how to crop, trim, and size embedded images in Illustrator using Astute Graphics Rasterino.
