From the course: Illustrator Quick Tips
Cropping an image
- [Instructor] When designing in Illustrator, you'll often use images as part of the design. When you do, you'll often need to crop those images. Choose the Selection tool to make it active and then in the Layers panel, make sure that the Artwork layer is the active layer. Choose File > Place and navigate to where the image resides on your computer. Click the Place button. With the loaded cursor active, click somewhere in the document to place this image at 100%. Reposition the image accordingly so that the subject is where you want it to be in it's final position. In the Properties panel, click the Crop Image button. A dialog let's you know that a version of the image will be embedded in this document. Click OK and drag the handles to crop the image as desired. Click the Apply button in the Properties panel to commit your change.
