Defining the logo-design process

A course like this might give the impression that a logo design project is a linear process. You begin with nothing and piece by piece add and refine elements until you progress to a final result that pleases both you, the designer, and your client. In reality, it's not so tidy. Some ideas come from methodical exploration, others you just happen upon. Sometimes your first idea is the best, sometimes you have to wade through a swamp of clichés in order to arrive at something original. So be prepared to revisit your ideas, be willing to change everything. Be receptive to suggestions. But at the same time, know the difference between those suggestions that are worth pursuing, and those which you should acknowledge politely then ignore.
