- [Instructor] In this movie, I am going to be coloring the negative space. I'm starting out with my word typed in Futura PT Heavy. And before I go any further, I would just like to adjust the letter spacing. So I'll select the type container, and then come and tighten my letter spacing. If I want to adjust the kerning, the spacing between individual letter pairs, I just need to insert my cursor between those letter pairs and then come to my properties and I can tighten up the kerning right there. All right, now, I am going to need to convert my type to outline, so I'll come to my Type panel, and choose Outline Text. Next thing I want to do is draw myself a rectangle that encloses the type, and I need to be very accurate here. So I'll deselect the type, and then with my rectangle tool, click and drag over the letter shapes. It will be the case that the rounded top and bottom of the S will overshoot that rectangle…
