From the course: Illustrator Quick Tips
Drawing basic shapes
- [Instructor] Illustrator's basic shapes are located in the tools panel. You'll see the rectangle tool by default. The triangle in the lower right corner indicates that there are more options available. Click and hold on the rectangle tool to see the other options. Choose the rectangle tool, then click and drag with your mouse to draw a rectangle. To draw a perfect shape hold down the Shift key as you drag using the mouse. Click and hold on the rectangle tool, and choose the ellipse tool. Click and drag with your mouse to draw an ellipse. Repeat that process with the polygon and star tools to draw those shapes as well. Note that using the polygon and star tools, the shape is drawn from the center instead of from one of the corners.
